Joint statement signed between Sweden and Japan during MIRAI seminar in Tokyo, Japan
During the second MIRAI seminar, taking place from 9-12 October in Tokyo, Japan, the Ministry of Education and Research of Sweden and the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation of Sweden and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan signed an agreement on Strengthening of Japan-Sweden Science and Technology Cooperation. The signing of the agreement and the MIRAI seminar also mark the occassion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of piplomatic Relations between Sweden and Japan.
More than 250 researchers, university leaders, decision makers and funding agency representatives met to discuss ‘Sustainable Social Systems for an Ageing Society’.
Parallel sessions in the topics ‘Ageing’, ‘Materials science’, ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Innovation’ brought experts together to discuss common research interest and future joint activities in the respective fields. From this and previous MIRAI workshops a number of strong research collaborations have evolved and several proposals for joint research have been submitted to funding agencies or are in preparation.
