On September 4, 2024 MIRAI will organize a digital kick-off event to celebrate the start of MIRAI third phase between 2024-2026. This digital event is open to the public and strongly welcome from all MIRAI member universities in Sweden and Japan as well as other universities, industry, research funding agencies, governmental sectors.

During this event, MIRAI will introduce our core activities called “Global Challenges”. MIRAI selects four “Global Challenges” based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), and provides researchers and students with advanced opportunities for transnational and transdisciplinary engagement. MIRAI also provides them with a wide range of opportunities for interactions with stakeholders outside the university of their own affiliation, which include entrepreneurs and company representatives.

Challenge 1: Health and an ageing population (Part of SDG 3)
Challenge 2: Climate adaption, disaster and risk management and prevention (Part of SDG 13)
Challenge 3: Resilient cities and communities – policies, strategies, local government and urban planning (Part of SDG 11)
Challenge 4: Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage: renewable energy, solar energy conversion, electrification, sustainable processes and use of resources (Part of SDG 7)

The preliminary program and registration form are now open, and an updated program is coming soon.
Through this MIRAI third phase, we aspire to make this partnership in a more sustainable structure to better enable long-term engagement. Let us work together and make MIRAI a more strong collaboration platform!
