On 26 May 2025, an online information session was held as part of the STT Research Funding Support initiative, focusing on JSPS KAKENHI Grant.
Securing external funding is a key priority for MIRAI in fostering long-term research collaboration between Sweden and Japan. The Specific Task Team (STT), a working group supporting research activities initiated by MIRAI’s four Global Challenges Teams, plays a vital role in this effort. MIRAI currently operates three STTs, with two additional teams dedicated to Communication & Branding and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
The session took place online from 09:00–09:45 CEST / 16:00–16:45 JST and attracted around 30 participants. Mr. Naritake Abe (Head of Research Aid Division III, Research Program Department, JSPS Tokyo Office) introduced various grant schemes in JSPS as well as Introduction about the KAKENHI International Leading Research Program which is a main topic of the session. The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, and the speaker addressed numerous questions from attendees with informative responses.
STT Research Funding Support plans further events to support MIRAI researchers, project managers, and other key stakeholders engaged in building sustainable research partnerships between Sweden and Japan.
